Curriculum
At London Brook Academy, we know that children learn best through joyful play, meaningful relationships, and hands-on exploration. Our curriculum combines warmth and wonder with research-backed practices that support growing minds and hearts. Each day, children are guided to build strong social skills, develop early literacy and math foundations, and practice the self-regulation and independence needed for kindergarten and beyond.
Creative Curriculum
Whole-child learning, language-rich instruction, thematic investigations
The Creative Curriculum provides the foundation for our learning environment and daily routines. It emphasizes learning through hands-on exploration, meaningful relationships, and intentional teaching. Children build foundational skills in language, early literacy, math, science, the arts, and social-emotional development through thematic studies and thoughtfully designed learning centers. Teachers guide play with purposeful scaffolding, helping each child grow at their own pace while nurturing curiosity, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
Building Blocks
Structured math learning trajectories
Building Blocks provides a research-based approach to early math instruction, ensuring children develop strong number sense and mathematical thinking. Instruction begins with concrete exploration and gradually builds to more complex concepts through hands-on activities, games, visual models, and manipulatives. Children learn to compare, count, sort, measure, recognize patterns, explore shapes, and reason spatially — developing confidence, logic, and a strong foundation for future STEM learning.
Fundations
Early literacy & phonological awareness and reading comprehension foundations
Fundations introduces children to the building blocks of reading and writing in a joyful, developmentally appropriate way. Through multisensory activities, children practice phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge, letter formation, and sound-symbol relationships. They learn how language works — listening for sounds, recognizing letters, building oral vocabulary, and developing early print habits. These foundational skills support smooth and confident transition into kindergarten literacy instruction.
Tools of the Mind Strategies
Executive function, self-regulation, and purposeful play
Tools of the Mind strategies help children develop the essential self-regulation and executive-function skills that support learning across all areas. Through guided pretend play, planning routines, partner talk, shared tasks, and visual supports, children learn to manage emotions, focus attention, follow multi-step directions, collaborate with peers, and persist through challenges. These skills prepare children not only for academic success, but also for healthy social interactions, problem-solving, and independence.
Enrichment Activities
At London Brook Academy, we will partner with local professionals to provide students with opportunities to partake in engaging enrichment activities that go beyond the classroom. These experiences include sports, visual arts, language classes, and music lessons—giving children the opportunity to explore new skills, discover new passions, and build confidence in a fun, hands-on way. More information, including sign-up details, will be available as we get closer to opening. If you are interested in partnering with London Brook Academy by teaching or coaching an enrichment class at London Brook Academy, please stay tuned for posted opportunities as we get closer to our opening date.
